The Dan Fogelberg Memorial is located in Riverfront Park in Peoria, Illinois. A Memorial Committee was formed to initiate funding, design and installation. Members of the committee were Hugh Higgins, Eric Mills, Dianne Turner and Deb Jelinek. The project was privately funded by Dan's friends, colleagues and fans and officially dedicated August 28, 2010. The event was attended by Dan's family members along with friends and fans from 38 states. The unveiling was performed by Dan's wife, Jean; his mother, Margaret Fogelberg; his brother, Marc Fogelberg; sister-in-law, Carla Fogelberg, Mayor Jim Ardis and Deb Jelinek. The stones are engraved with lyrics from three of Dan's songs - "Part of the Plan", "Icarus Ascending" and "River of Souls". There was careful consideration made in choosing the lyrics from Dan's many songs -- lyrics that would stand the test of time. Smaller stones etched with the lyrics to "Ever On" mark the trail up to the memorial. A bench was gifted to the Memorial area by a group of DanFans in 2011, containing a plaque with a quote from Dan and a photo of him.
The DF Memorial is honored yearly by fans during the Foundation's DF Celebration Weekend,
where a blessing and song of Dan's are performed prior to the Saturday afternoon picnic next to the site. The landscaping is lovingly cared for and enhanced so that it remains a beautiful tribute all year round.
