DAN FOGELBERG MEMORIAL DEDICATION WEEKEND 2010

 

 

FRIDAY NIGHT WELCOME PARTY AT THE HOTEL PERE MARQUETTE
 
The Hotel Pere Marquette was a great host hotel,
welcoming fans with a beautiful banner.
Sheldon Felich, Tim Jessup, Rusty King, Eric Folkerth and Tim Pastor
entertain the fans along with other tribute artists from around the country.
The crowd was on its feet singing and dancing!
Jean Fogelberg was a gracious hostess, meeting hundreds of fans
and posing for hundreds of photos! Here she is with one
of our favorite tribute artists, Donnie Mills.
 
Dan's bandmates from his high school band, The Coachman, joined Jean
during Friday night's festivites.
 
SATURDAY AFTERNOON MEMORIAL DEDICATION CEREMONY AT RIVERFRONT PARK
Saturday morning, Eric Mills was host on the trolley which took DanFans around to see Dan related landmarks in Peoria, such as the "grocery store"
featured in his hit, "Same Old Lang Syne" .
DanFans from 38 states joined in for the dedication ceremony.
Dan's mother, Margaret Fogelberg, spoke to the attendees of the dedication,
thanking them for being there to honor Dan and his music.
Dan's family listened to the speakers marking the occasion.

Rev. Deb Jelinek, web director of The Living Legacy website and
committe member of the Memorial Project admistered the blessing.
 
Dan's high school friend, Barry Cloyd, sang "Ever On" to close the service.

SATURDAY NIGHT TRIBUTE CONCERT AT SCOTTISH RITE CATHEDRAL
The Peoria Acoustic All-Stars entertain the fans with Dan's songs
which spanned his entire career.

A portrait of Dan painted by local artist William Hardin was unveiled during the concert. The portrait is now hanging at the Peoria Civic Center.

Hundreds of luminaria lined the steps and perimeter of the Scottish Rite Cathedral in memory of Dan from fans around the country.
At the reception following the concert, Hugh Higgins
was presented an award for all his hard work
in getting the city of Peoria to support the DF Memorial and
leading the charge in getting the vision realized.
   
An impromptu sing-a-long after party at the Hotel Pere Marquette lasted until 4 a.m.!
This is now an established tradition for weekend events as the DanFans just can't bear to
let the music end!
